Diamond lattice in cream and black. A blessing for every hallway.
Weeks of work. The hands of Moroccan women artisans. One loom. One runner — never to be repeated.
Handwoven in cream and black, this Beni Ouarain runner was made in Morocco by skilled Amazigh women using 100% natural wool — no synthetic fibre, no shortcuts. The field is undyed natural ivory fleece; the bold diamond lattice is formed entirely from natural dark wool, never touched by a dye pot. Knot by knot, the two tones are tied into a continuous trellis of interlocking rhombuses that runs the full 201 cm length of the piece. The hand-knotted construction gives the surface a dense, raised pile that is soft underfoot and durable through daily use. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
Meaning & Symbolism
This Beni Ouarain runner embodies the harmony between simplicity and geometry. The repeating rhombus pattern is one of the oldest motifs in Amazigh weaving — each diamond represents protection and balance, a boundary drawn around what matters most: family, home, the threshold you cross each day. Stacked end to end along a runner, the diamonds form an unbroken chain of protection from one end of the passage to the other.
The black and white contrast carries its own meaning in Berber tradition. Natural cream speaks of honesty and light; natural black speaks of depth and the quiet strength of the earth. Together they express the balance of opposites — and the enduring purity of a design that needs no colour because the geometry itself carries all the weight.
Each rug tells the story of ancestral weaving knowledge passed down through generations of Moroccan women artisans. The result is not only decoration, but a handmade object shaped by patience, memory, and daily use.
The Symbols on This Rug
Every element visible in this runner carries meaning in Amazigh weaving — together they read like a quiet blessing for the spaces you move through most.
Color from the Earth
There is no dye in this rug at all. Every tone you see is the natural colour of the wool itself, exactly as it came from the sheep — no copper pot, no pigment, nothing added.
The soft contrast between the ivory ground and the dark lattice lines — the depth of the black, the warmth of the cream — comes only from wool sheared from different sheep. No dye was used to achieve either tone. This natural difference is what gives an undyed Beni Ouarain its quiet, timeless depth.
Perfect Spaces
At 79 × 31 in (201 × 79 cm), this runner is shaped for long, narrow passages — and for any room where a handmade Moroccan textile belongs alongside daily life.
The runner shape brings handmade texture and warmth to long passages — the diamond lattice guides each step with a quiet, geometric rhythm.
A welcoming first layer with authentic Moroccan character — the black and cream palette suits virtually any interior, from minimal to maximalist.
A low-profile wool accent that softens a practical working space — the natural undyed pile is durable underfoot and easy to live with.
A narrow, comfortable textile underfoot beside the bed — the first and last thing you feel each day, made by hand in Morocco.
The bold diamond lattice can be appreciated as woven textile art when displayed vertically — a graphic, architectural piece that holds its own on any wall.
May this runner guide each step with warmth, calm, and protection. May it carry the care of our hands — and the diamonds woven into every row — through your hallway, bedside, or favourite passage every day. — The Artisan's Blessing
