How to Customize
Your Moroccan Rug
A step-by-step guide.
Design a one-of-a-kind handwoven rug with the Amazigh women of our Taznakht cooperative. Choose the size, colors, wool, and pattern — and receive a rug that exists nowhere else on earth.

by hand,
by women.
Three simple steps from idea to your doorstep.
No showrooms. No middlemen. Just a direct conversation between you and the women who will weave your rug.
Share your vision
Send us your size, colors, and inspiration — a photo, a Pinterest board, or a rough sketch. We'll listen and ask the right questions.
We design together
Our artisans draft your rug with natural wool swatches and hand-drawn pattern studies. You approve every detail before a single thread is woven.
Handwoven & shipped
Skilled Amazigh weavers spend 5–9 weeks crafting your rug on traditional looms in Taznakht. Then we ship it directly to your door.

Woven by 64 women,
in one village at 5,000 feet.
Every custom Moroccan rug we make comes from a single cooperative of Amazigh women artisans in Taznakht — a small village in the High Atlas Mountains where weaving has been passed mother-to-daughter for over 800 years.
When you commission a rug, you're not buying from a factory. You're buying from Safia, or Fatima, or Roqia — and you're paying her a fair wage directly, not through middlemen.
Atlas Mountain wool
High-altitude sheep, hand-spun on site.
Plant-based dyes
Madder, indigo, pomegranate, henna.
Women-led cooperative
64 artisans, fair wages, zero middlemen.
100% handmade
No machines. No shortcuts. Ever.
Every rug begins as a sheep.
Four stages, four pairs of hands, one handmade custom rug.
Shearing
Spring wool is sheared from Atlas Mountain sheep at altitudes above 4,000 ft.
Washing & spinning
Wool is washed in cold mountain water, hand-carded, and spun on drop spindles.
Natural dyeing
Plants — madder, indigo, henna, pomegranate — give the wool its color. No chemicals.
Hand-weaving
Woven on vertical looms knot by knot — up to 100,000 knots in a single custom rug.
Meet the hands that weave your rug.
These are the eight women leading our cooperative. When you commission a custom Moroccan rug, your piece is woven by one of them — on a loom in her own home, at her own pace.

"When you commission a custom rug, you don't pay a brand. You pay Safia, Fatima, Fadma, Mariam, Zaina, Zineb, Roqia, and Anaya — directly."
Safia teaches the exact shade you asked for.
Before a single knot is tied, Safia Iminotras — our master dyer and cooperative leader — gathers the women around the dye pots. She holds your color reference in her hand: a Pinterest screenshot, a fabric swatch, a paint chip.
Then, using madder root, indigo, pomegranate, and henna, she teaches the ratios needed to match it precisely. No digital color picker. No synthetic shortcut. Just decades of knowledge, passed from her hands to theirs.
Honest pricing. Real timelines.
A custom Moroccan rug is a serious piece of craftsmanship. Here's exactly what to expect.
